He’s a sexual dominant. She’s sworn off sex. There’s no way they can make a relationship work—or can they?

After surviving a traumatic event at age fifteen and the ensuing estrangement from her family, Natalie Bryant has worked for years to reinvent herself into the woman she is today—a happy teacher fresh out of college and enjoying her first winter in New York City with her faithful dog, Fluff, by her side. Natalie isn’t expecting her life to change completely during a routine stroll through Greenwich Village on a blustery January day. But when Fluff breaks loose and charges into a park, Natalie gives chase and crashes into her destiny. Only after Fluff bites and draws blood from the man who accidentally knocked Natalie down does she realize Fluff has bitten the biggest movie star in the world.

He has no business being enthralled by the gorgeous, young, innocent teacher…
Natalie captivates Flynn Godfrey from the first moment their eyes meet while she is lying on the ground and he’s fighting off her ferocious little beast of a dog. The only thing Flynn knows for certain is if he lets Natalie get away, he’ll regret it for the rest of his life. After only a short time in her presence, Flynn is prepared to change who he is to be what she needs. He knows he’s in big trouble when she says she won’t sleep with him and he doesn’t care if it means he gets to keep her in his life. But can he turn his back on the lifestyle that has defined him? Can he deny the desires that drive him to give Natalie the introduction to love and romance she so deserves? And most of all, can he keep his truth hidden from her long enough to have forever with her?

Join Flynn and Natalie as their story unfolds in three full-length books released three weeks in a row: VIRTUOUS, VALOROUS and VICTORIOUS. From New York to Los Angeles, from Hollywood to Las Vegas, Flynn and Natalie’s whirlwind love affair has it all—romance, passion, steamy hot sex, relentless paparazzi and a murder that could be their undoing.

If you hate dirty-talking heroes who put it all on the line for the women they love, who leave no desire unfulfilled, who will do anything it takes to protect what’s theirs…If elements of BDSM make you queasy, if smoking hot sex isn’t your thing, if cliffhangers make you rage, if you hate first-person points of view from the heroine AND the hero… this series is NOT for you! You’ve been warned…

Vikki’s Musings

Wow, just, wow! Marie Force does is again. With Virtuous, she is using the pen name, M.S. Force, to alert her readers that this series is different from the rest of her books. This story is grittier, sexier and more explicit, but absolutely riveting. I am so glad I discovered Virtuous.

When Natalie Bryant’s dog causes her to run into a stranger in the park, she’d awe-struck when she discovers it’s the famous actor, Flynn Godfrey. Then to add insult to injury Fuff bites him when he tries to help her stand.

Flynn loses himself in this young woman’s warm brown eyes. He’s never felt such an immediate and overwhelming attraction before, and he’s been with lots of women in his past. Unable to stop, he asks her to go with him for coffee.

When Flynn realizes how innocent and naïve Natalie is, how can he possibly pursue her, knowing she could never understand his darker side? Will he do the right thing and leave her alone, or can he change his lifestyle to have a chance with this woman who has captivated him as never before?

Virtuous grabbed me from the first scene and kept in its thrall to the very end. The story is compelling, and the characters are complex. I could not stop reading/listening to this amazing story.

Natalie’s back story, which Ms. Force weaves into the story with incredible expertise, is heart-wrenching. I fell in love with her character right away. Her strength and determination to forge ahead into a new life is nothing less than spectacular, considering what happened to her when she was only fifteen.

Flynn’s character is merciless in his pursuit, yet is willing to turn his life upside down to have Natalie in his life. Even if it means turning his back on the lifestyle he’s had for the last ten years. His tenderness and care for her stole my heart.

I listened to the audio version of Virtuous and thoroughly enjoyed the performance by Cooper North and Brooke Bloomingdale. Both individuals did an incredible job. Cooper North gave each character a distinct voice and so did Ms. Bloomingdale. They truly brought this fantastic story to life. The emotion they put in their voices brought tears to my eyes. I will definitely look for other books narrated by them.

If you want a book to take you on a roller coaster of emotions, one that will have you laughing one minute at the antics of Natalie’s little beast of a dog and crying next as the story unfolds, then you will positively LOVE Virtuous as much as I. This is not a book for the faint of heart. You must be able to handle graphic language, BDSM elements and enjoy a cliff hanger. You’ll want to have Valorous, the next book in the series available.

I have now read the other two books in this series. I found Valorous and Victorious as riveting and compelling as Virtuous. I could not stop reading these books. I highly recommend this marvelous series to anyone who enjoys books with plenty of hot sex and BDSM elements. Ms. Force certainly did her research. Happy reading!

Vikki’s Musings

It has been quite some time since I have read/listened to one of Lisa Kleypas’ books. The Victorian era is not my first go-to historical romance. When I saw this one, I decided to purchase the audio version on Audible. I am glad I did.

Devon Ravenel inherits the title of Earl of Trenear from his cousin. He is not thrilled and breaks the entail, intent on selling everything. He is a pleasuring-seeking rake and does not want the responsibility of the earldom and the crushing debt that comes along with it.

Lady Kathleen Trenear, widow to the previous earl, is in deep mourning although she was only married three days when her husband died while riding. She must protect her late husband’s three sisters from the heartless rake, no matter the cost.

Can Kathleen convince Devon to keep the estate and accept the responsibility of his three nieces without giving away her virtue and heart? Will Devon change his mind and step into the role of earl, while avoiding the temptation of the lovely widow?

Cold-Hearted Rake is an emotionally-charged read from start to finish. Kathleen and Devon are like water and oil. They do not mix. At first, they hate each other vehemently to the point that at times, it was very annoying, but then one of the characters would do or say something to pull me back.

Kathleen’s character is fearlessly loyal and determined to do right by her three sister-in-laws and is willing to go toe to toe with Devon. I loved her devotion. She feels a lot of guilt over her husband’s death, blaming herself. I could feel her emotions as she tried to deal with the grief because she had a huge argument with him right before he died. Her pain brought tears to my eyes.

Devon is not an easy character to love in the beginning because he truly is a cold-hearted bastard to Kathleen and is ruthless in his determination to get rid of the burden associated with the title. Being the rake he is, he sets out to seduce Kathleen. However, his heroism during a pivotal scene, which is so well-written it stole my breath, turned the tide.

By the end of the book, I truly wanted Kathleen and Devon to find their “happily ever after.” Even though there is a huge amount of angst between the couple, the sexual tension sizzles on every page. While I do not like the extreme amount of conflict between the pair, it did ultimately work for them and the book.

The narration by Mary Jane Wells is astonishingly good. She reads with a great deal of emotion and does an outstanding job giving each character their own voice, especially the male characters. Her performance kept me engaged, even when I wanted to shake Kathleen and Devon. I will be looking for more books narrated by her.

I am glad I decided to read/listen to Cold-Hearted Rake. The book is totally worth the time and effort of dealing with the antagonism between Kathleen and Devon. The secondary characters are endearing, especially Helen and West. If you enjoy a heart-wrenching story that will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride, then you will love Cold-Hearted Rake. Happy reading!

Donna’s Musings
I haven’t met a Lori Wilde book that I didn’t like, but her Twilight, Texas series is my favorite, so I was glad to see this one.  I love holiday-themed stories, and Christmas-themed stories best of all.
This story goes back to Twilight for Christmas and features Gabi Preston who, against the wishes of her high-powered attorney parents, has dropped out of law school to go in search of Christmas as depicted in a snow globe that her older brother gave her just before he died on a Christmas many years before.
Her family has not really celebrated Christmas since her brother’s death, so Gabi is out to find someone who does. She is in full-blown rebellion mode as she quits school to try and find out who she really is.
To pursue her search, she has traded homes, vehicles, and life in general with a girl she connects with on the Internet, as both are great fans of the movie “The Holiday.”  The girl turns out to be Katie Cheek, who lives in Yurt, which is quite a change for Gabi as she is used to a swanky LA apartment.   But, it turns out the yurt is just across the road from the Cheek family Christmas tree farm, and Katie’s big brother, Joe, has given up his wanderlust lifestyle to temporarily run it for his ailing grandfather…..and to keep an eye on Katie’s house guest.
For a girl in search of the real Spirit of Christmas, Gabi has landed in the right place.  Twilight does Christmas up in style, and the Cheek family embodies it.  Gabi quickly gets wrapped up in the holiday spirit, and in the arms of Joe Cheek and his family.
The relationship between the two is fascinating. One is never sure if they are falling in love or getting ready to kill each other. For two people who really don’t want to fall in love, they do a good job of it, with a lot of laughter and a few tears along the way.
She slips right into life in Twilight and more than earns the nickname of “Trouble” Joe pins on her in the first chapters of the book.
I won’t give away more than this, as I don’t want to spoil the story for the next reader! All I can say is, I loved this story as it describes a Christmas most of us can only dream of, with a lovely happy ending perfect for the holiday season.  This is a five-star read, one I think anyone who enjoys a holiday story will love.

Vikki’s Musings

I am a huge fan of Susanne Matthews. I first discovered her books when I read Echoes of the Past, and I have been hooked ever since. I believe I have now read almost every book she has written. Her writing style is incredible. Even when the story may not completely resonate with me, her writing does.

Lilith Munroe works as an FBI Cult profiler. When the Harvester strikes again, she goes to Boston to help find the man who is stealing babies and leaving behind dead bodies. A survivor herself from a Cult she had infiltrated five years before, she is determined to bring the cult’s reign of terror to an end and find the babies.

Jacob Andrews, an Australian citizen, arrives in Boston to learn his missing sister is a victim of the cult he escaped as a seventeen-year-old. He also learns his mild-mannered brother, James, is dead, and he brutally murdered several women after impregnating them for their evil uncle’s flock.

When Lilith and Jacob become partners as they attempt to end his uncle’s terrorism, they fight a growing attraction. Can Jacob find a way to capture Lilith’s heart and save her and the babies in time?

The White Lily is a riveting story from the first page to the last, keeping me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next murder to occur. And, there are a lot of heinous murders of defenseless adoptive parents. Her gruesome descriptions of the victims froze my soul and almost turned my stomach. The White Lily is not for the faint of heart!

Lilith’s character is a kick-ass heroine who is hell-bent on stopping the Harvester once and for all. While she is extremely hardened by what she experienced at the hands of the cult, she has a vulnerability that is very appealing. Ms. Matthew’s ability to bring her readers into the heart and soul of her character kept me totally engaged.

I fell in love with Jacob’s tormented character from the very start. When Ms. Matthews describes what he experienced at the hands of his uncle’s lackey was heart-wrenching. His fierce desire to protect the prickly Lilith put him high in my esteem.

This is an action-packed story and it takes the reader on a thrilling ride. This is one of the best thrillers I have ever read. I do admit I do not normally read them, but I am glad I had the opportunity to read and review this one.

Now, for the one thing that keeps me from giving this 5 Gold Crowns. The White Lily is not a true romance, even though it does have a strong romantic element in it. It needs to be categorized as a suspenseful thriller with strong romantic elements. I am not saying there is not a romance with an HEA, but that the romance is not the central focus of the book.

If you are looking for a nail-biting thriller that will have your heart pounding and your pulse racing, and you can handle graphic descriptions of violent scenes, then you will absolutely love The White Lily. I do recommend this book. Happy reading!

I did not know what to expect when I decided to download the audio version of My Lady, My Lord, but I was looking for a regency to listen to and found this book. I also purchased the Kindle edition as well for an excellent price. I am so glad I discovered this book.

Ian Chance, the Earl of Chance, and Lady Corinna Mowbrary have had an on-going feud since they were children. While arguing in front of the statue of Aphrodite, the goddess intervenes and each finds themselves inhabiting each other’s bodies.

Will the pair learn to value each other and find a way to work to together so they can be reunited with their true form while finally giving into an attraction they feel for one another, or will they turn their backs on a love greater than either could ever imagine?

After I purchased this book, I read a few of the reviews and wondered if I had made a mistake. I definitely did not. I found this book enchanting. When Ian and Corinna end up switching bodies, I found myself laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes. I did not expect the humor.

As the story unfolds, I felt as if I really got to know each character on an intimate level. I truly wanted them to find their happy ending. Even though, at times they fought like cats and dogs, the chemistry between them sizzled.

I listened to the audio version, and Velda Dehmlow did an outstanding job. She reads with a great deal of emotion, and she gives each character a distinctive voice, making it easy to know which one is speaking. This is the first book I’ve listened to with Ms. Dehmlow as the narrator, and I plan to look for other books performed by her.

If you are looking for a great regency with an unusual twist, then you will love My Lady, My Lord as much as I did. One of the things I love most about regency romance is the sexual tension and this book has it. I highly recommend this delightful book. Happy reading!
